Sizes, materials and care

A cream marble oval floats between two mismatched oak supports, and the imbalance is the whole point. The Aelwyn Console Table reads as a piece of sculpture that happens to hold your keys, giving an entry or a long living-room wall something to organize itself around. The pale, open-grained oak and the soft mottling in the stone keep it warm rather than austere.

Styling Tips

Set it behind a low sofa so the marble reads against the upholstery, or run it along an entry wall with a pair of lamps at either end. The pale oak sits comfortably with both bleached and mid-brown woods, which makes it an easy bridge piece in a room that has collected finishes over time. Hang a mirror above it to bounce light down onto the stone, and keep the styling sparse so the asymmetry stays legible.
