What size coffee table do I need?
A common rule of thumb is a table about two-thirds the length of your sofa, with its top close to the height of the sofa seat or a little lower. Leave enough room between the table and the sofa to walk through comfortably.
Which coffee table shape works best?
Rectangular tables suit long sofas; round and oval tables soften a room and are easier to walk around in tight spaces; nesting tables or a pair of ottomans give you flexibility. Rounded corners are kinder to shins in homes with small children.
