Recliners Portland

Shop recliners in Portland at What's New Furniture. We carry power recliners, leather recliners, swivel recliners, and gliders from Norwegian designer Fjords and from Stanton, plus one-of-a-kind consigned finds. The buying guide below covers sizing and mechanisms.

Power & Electric Recliners

An electric recliner does the work for you: press a button and the footrest and back adjust independently, so you can find a reading position, a TV position, and a nap position without straining. Power recliners are the right choice if you want infinite positions, have limited upper-body strength, or simply want the footrest to close itself. We carry power recliners from Stanton, and you can ask us about adding a power mechanism to a custom Stanton order. Prefer no cords? Manual recliners are simpler, with no motor to fail.

Leather Recliners

A leather recliner is a classic choice: it breathes, wipes clean, and develops character over time. Our leather recliner selection is led by Fjords of Norway, with a choice of leathers and wood stains. Stanton offers leather and leather-alternative recliners.

Recliner Chairs for Comfort & Back Support

If you're shopping for a comfortable recliner for daily use, or specifically a recliner for back support, fit matters more than brand. Seat depth, headrest position, and lumbar contact change completely between a 5'2" and a 6'2" sitter. Fjords recliners come in multiple sizes so the chair fits your body. That is why seat depth and headrest height matter more than any single spec.

Swivel & Glider Recliners

Swivel recliners rotate 360° on a round base, which is ideal for conversation areas and rooms with a view. Fjords offers swivel-based designs. Browse dedicated swivel chairs & recliners or accent chairs for non-reclining alternatives.

Recliner Buying Guide

• Measure your wall clearance. Traditional recliners need 12–18" behind them; wall-hugger and swivel-base designs need far less.
• Check the fit. Seated, your heels should rest on the footrest with your head supported. If your neck floats, the chair is too big.
• Manual vs. power: manual is simpler and cordless; power gives infinite positions and easier operation.
• Fabric vs. leather: fabric runs cooler and costs less; leather is durable and cleans easily.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you carry La-Z-Boy recliners? Our new recliners come from brands like Fjords and Stanton, and consigned pieces vary.

How do I know which recliner size fits me? Compare seat depth, back height, and footrest length with your height. Your feet should reach the footrest while your head rests against the back, and your knees should bend comfortably.

How do I care for a leather recliner? Dust with a soft cloth, wipe spills promptly, keep it away from heat vents and direct sun, and condition the leather once or twice a year with a product made for it.

Can I customize a recliner? Stanton recliners can be ordered in your choice of fabric, and custom orders follow the maker's build time, typically 4 to 14 weeks. Fjords recliners can be ordered in your choice of leathers and wood stains.

What recliner suits a small room? Look for wall-hugger or swivel-base designs, which need less clearance behind them. Measure the space with the recliner fully extended and leave a clear path to walk.
