Sizes, materials and care

Alice takes a familiar 1950s silhouette and cuts vertical channels into the top-grain leather, so the seat and back read as a run of soft ribs instead of one flat panel. A scalloped stretcher breaks up the solid beech frame underneath, a small detail on a dining chair that otherwise keeps things simple.

At 21.25 inches wide and just under 34 inches tall, Alice sits close to the table without crowding a smaller dining room, and leather wipes clean after the kind of dinner that actually happens on a Tuesday night.

Styling Tips

Chestnut leather runs warm, so it looks best against a pale oak or marble dining table, where the seat carries the color instead of competing with the top. Sonoma Grey does the opposite job, cooling down a table that already leans warm.

The silhouette is classic enough to mix with other chair styles at the same table: run six to match, or pair a couple at the ends of a table set mostly with something else. Either way, leave the scalloped stretcher visible and keep a patterned rug out from directly underneath.

Care

Buff the leather regularly with a dry cloth and wipe spills with a damp one; skip oils, leather cleaner, and ammonia-based products, and keep the seat out of direct sun. Dust the beech frame with a soft, dry cloth and avoid furniture polish or solvent-based cleaners. Indoor use only.
