A honeybee cast in iron and finished in a rubbed, distressed gold — wings out, veining etched in, a striped abdomen you can feel with a thumb. Turn it over and the whole thing has a second job: a bottle-opener notch is cut into the back, so the object sitting on your counter looking like a small brass paperweight is the thing that opens the beer. It is four inches across, heavy for its size, and it lands somewhere between a tool and a good little sculpture. Browse more home decor.
Details
- 4"L × 3"W, palm-sized
- Solid cast iron with a distressed antique gold finish
- Cast-in wing veining, textured thorax and a ribbed abdomen
- Bottle-opener cavity cut into the reverse
- Flat base — stands on its own on any surface, decorative side up
- Substantial weight for its footprint; opens a crown cap without flexing
- Ships in sustainable packaging
- Part of Creative Co-Op’s Cozy collection
- Hand-finished, so the distressing pattern varies piece to piece
Styling
Leave it out. That is the point of buying a gold bee instead of a plastic church key — it belongs on the counter, on the tray, on the shelf beside the glasses, and it does not need to be put away when people come over. On a bar cart it sits comfortably with brass, smoked glass and dark wood; in a kitchen it warms up a stretch of stone or butcher block that has nothing else going on.
The finish is warm gold with dark recesses, so it agrees with brass hardware, unlacquered fixtures and aged wood, and it fights with polished chrome. Set it on a stack of cookbooks, in a shallow dish by the fridge, or on a windowsill with a plant behind it. It also solves a hosting gift — small, useful, obviously chosen rather than grabbed, and it survives being kept in a drawer for a decade. More on the bar carts shelf and through the rest of our new arrivals.
Care
- Wipe clean with a dry or barely damp cloth
- Dry immediately after any contact with water — cast iron will spot and rust if left wet
- Hand wash only; never put it in the dishwasher
- Skip metal polish and abrasive pads, which strip the distressed gold back to bare iron
- Keep off wet counters and out of the sink
- The finish is applied by hand and will keep wearing in at the high points with use

Returns & Exchanges
We want you to love what you bought. Not sure it's right? Ask about “If It Fits, It Sits” — take select in-stock pieces home for up to 2 days and live with them before you commit.
If your item came boxed and you still have the packaging, you've got 7 days from the day you get it to tell us you'd like to try something else. Bring it back to the showroom unused and in its box, and we'll put the full amount on store credit so you can find the right piece. Credit doesn't expire.
Custom orders, consignment, and floor models work differently — those are built to your specs, owned by someone else, or the last one on the floor, so they're final. That said, if you're in a real bind on a custom piece, tell us. Some of our vendors will take one back for a restocking fee, and we're happy to ask on your behalf.
Warranty
Warranty coverage comes from the manufacturer, so terms vary by brand. Several of the makers we carry offer a lifetime warranty on the frame, the springs, and the resiliency of the cushions; others cover a set number of years. Fabric and leather coverage is typically separate from structural coverage.
Whatever your piece carries, you don't have to chase it down. If something arrives damaged or a defect appears later, contact us and our claims department files with the manufacturer on your behalf and sees it through.
