Sizes, materials and care

The Cesar takes the classic sling chair and scales it up. A solid parawood frame is shaped, curved and smoothed on every edge, then a cushioned seat and back are stretched across it in top-grain leather sourced from a family-run Italian tannery. The hides are salvaged from upcycled stock, so natural markings and color variation are part of the look, not a defect. It is an accent chair built around that leather.

At 33 inches wide, it seats one comfortably with room to curl a leg underneath, and the open frame keeps it from reading heavy in a smaller living room or bedroom corner.

Styling Tips

Heirloom leather carries enough character on its own, so keep the rest of the seating simpler, a linen sofa or a plain ottoman rather than a second patterned piece. Carson Black works hardest in a room that already leans warm, where the dark leather reads as an anchor rather than a cold note.

One Cesar makes a strong reading chair; two facing each other across a low table make a small, informal seating area without needing a full sofa.

Care

Wipe the leather with a dry or barely damp cloth and keep it out of direct sunlight and away from heat vents, which dry and crack the hide over time. Dust the wood frame dry. Indoor use only. Free front-door delivery in the Portland area on orders $1,500+, or white-glove delivery available.
