About the Traditional Metal Torchiere Floor Lamp

Our notes on this piece, including its condition.

This Dark Bronze torchiere floor lamp is the kind of quiet find that changes a room the moment the shade goes on. A tall metal stem rises to a wide bowl that sends light toward the ceiling, giving evenings a soft, indirect glow instead of a harsh pool on the floor. The Dark Bronze finish reads warm and a little old-world, the sort of piece you stumble on while hunting vintage floor lamps Portland and immediately picture in a corner that has been waiting for something with presence.

The lamp is metal through the stem and bowl, with a footprint of 16 inches by 16 inches and a height of 72 inches, so it stands nearly to the ceiling without crowding a sofa. Condition is good: honest wear consistent with a consigned piece that has already lived a life, with the structure sound and the finish intact enough to keep its depth. No upholstery here, just metal, light, and a classic torchiere silhouette.

Set it behind a lounge chair or in a living-room corner and let the uplight do the work. It pairs well with mid-century walnut, a cream sofa, or a bold textile that wants a calmer metal note beside it. At What's New Furniture it feels like a treasure-hunt lamp: tall, Dark Bronze, and ready to warm the room.
