Styling
Forty inches wide is enough to be the only thing on a wall, and it should be. Hang it over a sofa, a bed or a long console with nothing flanking it and leave the wall around it empty — this is a piece that gets worse the more you put next to it.
Black and white means it sits with anything: leather, oak, painted brick, a saturated wall colour. It is one of the few pieces of typographic art that works in a room with real furniture in it, because the letters are a historical artefact rather than a decorating idea. In an office or a stairwell landing it does a lot of work; over a bar or in a den it does even more.
