Styling
Load the wide base with crackers and the narrow top with a single wedge so the tree still reads as a tree. It doubles as a riser under a candle cluster or a tray for salt and pepper once the party is over, and the marble stays cold enough to keep butter and soft cheese firm. Keep the cold half for butter, soft cheese and anything that goes slack at room temperature, and put the dry things — crackers, nuts, dried fruit — on the acacia. Care
- Hand wash and dry immediately — do not soak or put in the dishwasher
- Wipe the marble with a mild soap; skip vinegar, citrus and abrasive cleaners
- Oil the acacia occasionally with food-grade mineral oil
- Store flat, not on edge, so the joint stays true
- Bring to room temperature before loading it with anything hot
