Sizes, materials and care

Long before the standing desk, there was the writing bureau — a piece that made correspondence feel like an occasion. This one revives the form in reclaimed pine with a deep African Dusk finish, compact enough for a bedroom corner yet organized enough to run a household from. Laptops are welcome; so are actual letters. When the day is done, everything folds back into order and the bureau goes back to being furniture. Styling Tips

Set the bureau against a light wall so the dark pine reads as a deliberate anchor, and add a woven or upholstered chair to soften all that wood. It thrives in multitasking rooms — guest room, landing, kitchen nook — anywhere work needs to fold away politely at day's end. A slim task lamp from our lighting collection and a bookcase nearby complete the study. Corral chargers in the bottom drawers so the surface stays a writing desk, not a cable tray.

Care:
Wipe with a soft, dry cloth; treat marks with a slightly damp cloth and dry immediately. Use a desk pad under daily writing or laptop use to protect the hand-brushed finish. Avoid direct sunlight and heat sources.
