Sizes, materials and care

A wood-framed dining chair with an open back and a grey upholstered seat, armless and only 17 inches wide. That width is the point. Styling

The open back is what keeps a set of these from walling off a small dining area. Sightlines carry straight through them, so a table of six does not read as a solid block of furniture in the middle of the room. Check that the seat clears your table apron before committing to a set.

Wood and grey is a deliberately quiet combination, which means it takes a loud rug, a strong piece of art or a coloured table without arguing. It works against walnut, black metal and painted wood alike. More in dining tables.
