Sizes, materials and care

A terracotta body painted deep blue and banded with white arcs and dashes, the pattern applied by hand so the rows drift slightly out of register. The blue is saturated enough to read from a distance and the white keeps it from going heavy. 12 inches. More in home decor.

Styling

Patterned vases are best left empty or given something plain: a few bare branches, a single dried stem. Fresh flowers on top of a painted pattern is two arrangements fighting over the same spot.

Deep blue against warm wood is a reliable pairing, and it is the easiest way to get colour into a neutral room without repainting anything. Put it where it has a plain wall behind it. More in home accents.
