Sizes, materials and care

The storybook toadstool: a flat red cap on a pale turned stem, six inches tall. There is no cleverness to it and that is the point. It costs ten dollars, it is unmistakably a mushroom, and it does something to a shelf that a tasteful ceramic object cannot. More in decor and more.
