About the Mid-Century Leather Sofa by de Sede

Our notes on this piece, including its condition.

This black leather sofa by de Sede is the kind of find that stops a room mid-conversation. The DS-102 sits low and long, a mid-century Swiss leather classic from a maker that has built seating by hand in Klingnau since the early 1960s, and the black hide gives those clean horizontal lines a quiet, graphic punch.

The frame reads as a solid wood structure under thick leather upholstery, stretching about 95 inches wide, 44 inches deep, and 29 inches high: generous enough for three without feeling bulky. Condition is fair: the leather shows visible wear and scratches, the honest record of years in use rather than a flaw to hide. That patina is part of the piece, and it will keep softening with daily sitting.

It belongs in a living room that already has a point of view: against a plaster wall, beside a walnut coffee table, or under a floor lamp with a warm shade. If you are hunting vintage sofas Portland collectors actually sit on, this black leather sofa is ready for another long chapter.
