About the Mid-Century Upholstered Bench

Our notes on this piece, including its condition.

This gray upholstered bench keeps a long, low line that feels mid-century without shouting about it. The seat is one continuous upholstered plane, so the silhouette stays clean from end to end. Gray is the cloth color : a quiet furniture gray that lets brighter art and wood tones do the talking.

The frame is wood beneath the upholstery. Seat height is about 18 inches, depth a narrow 15 inches, and length a generous 65 inches : hallway or foot-of-bed scale rather than a deep lounge. The narrow depth keeps it from crowding a walkway. Condition is good: visible use, nothing that needs a restoration, and a solid sit for everyday traffic.

Set it in an entry for bags and boots, along a gallery wall, or at the end of a bed. It pairs easily with walnut, black metal, or a single saturated pillow. Among vintage benches Portland, this is the practical one with a considered profile.
