Styling
Storage that is not trying to look like storage is rare, and it is the reason to put one of these at the end of a bed or under a window. Throws, spare bedding and the things that otherwise pile up on a chair go inside, and what the room sees is a hide bench. The lid is solid enough to sit on while you put your shoes on.
The two lengths do different jobs. The 40" suits the foot of a queen bed, a narrow hall or a window seat; the 48" holds its own under a long console, or as a coffee table alternative in front of a sofa. Brown and white hide sits easily with oak, leather, jute, black metal and warm white walls, and it gives a room full of flat woven texture something with depth to it. Care
- Brush or vacuum with a soft upholstery attachment, following the direction of the hair
- Blot spills immediately with a dry cloth; do not rub against the grain
- Keep out of direct sun, which fades hide over time
- Lift the lid off rather than dragging it, to protect the hide at the rim
