The large Hickory basket is the one that takes a full pile of throws or the spare pillows that never fit in the closet. It is handwoven from banana leaf in two natural tones: light straw coils on the upper half, a rolled coil band around the middle, and deeper brown coils below. Styling
Set it at the end of a sofa in the living room and fill it with folded throws, or put it at the foot of a bed for the heavy quilt that only comes out in January. At almost 21 inches tall it also works as a cover for a nursery-pot plant such as a fiddle leaf fig; set the pot on a saucer inside so water never reaches the fiber. More in home accents.
The darker lower half grounds it next to warm wood and wool rugs, and the lighter top keeps it from reading as a heavy block. Group it with the medium and small Hickory for a stepped trio by a window, or use this one alone in a corner. Because the fiber is natural, tone and coil thickness vary a little from basket to basket.
Care
- Dust with a dry, lint-free cloth or a vacuum brush attachment
- Indoor use only. Keep away from standing water and sprinklers
- Keep out of strong direct sun to slow fading
- Do not store wet towels or damp items in it
- If a coil loosens, ease it back into place rather than pulling
