Working from home goes better at a desk with some soul, and the Lifestyle single desk has it to spare — hand-built by craftsmen from FSC-certified reclaimed pine that's been collected, de-nailed, and kiln-dried for 26 days before taking shape in old English carpentry style. The African Dusk finish, one of up to 18 hand-brushed steps, gives it depth no factory spray can imitate. Compare workspace options in our office furniture collection. Styling Tips

Anchor a home office with the desk facing the room, not the wall — its finished back and traditional lines can take the exposure. Add a leather or tweed task chair, a brass lamp, and a low bookcase along the wall, and the room reads study rather than workstation. The warm, worn pine also settles nicely into a bedroom corner as a writing desk. Keep cords tamed through the leg opening and the silhouette stays clean.

Care:
Dust with a soft, dry cloth and wipe spills promptly. Avoid harsh cleaners on the hand-brushed finish and keep away from direct heat and sunlight. Wood runners benefit from occasional paraffin wax if drawers begin to stick.
