About the Acanthus-Carved Kidney Bean Loveseat

Our notes on this piece, including its condition.

This taupe kidney bean loveseat is a quietly sculptural find: a low, rounded silhouette with the classic kidney-bean curve, and carved acanthus leaves tracing the wood. The ornament is traditional rather than strictly mid-century, the kind of consigned piece that still feels fresh beside bolder color.

The frame is solid wood, shaped into that generous curve and finished with classical acanthus carving. At 83 inches wide, 54 inches deep, and 29 inches high, it sits low and deep enough for two to settle in without feeling cramped. Condition is good : honest wear from a well-loved life, with the structure and carving still intact.

It belongs in a living room that can take a little drama: a walnut cocktail table, a patterned rug, and one saturated pillow so the taupe upholstery stays the calm note. If you have been hunting vintage loveseats Portland, this is the curved, carved one worth sitting in before it leaves the floor.
