Is the mattress included, and is it good for more than one night?

Yes, every finish includes it. It's a 6-inch tri-fold queen with a gel memory foam layer over firmer support foam. It's a real mattress, not a topper, and it stays in the cabinet when you close it.

Does it attach to the wall?

No. It's a freestanding cabinet on hidden casters. No wall bracket, no studs, no installer.

Is there a twin or full size?

Queen is the only size right now, in every finish above. If you need something smaller, ask us and we'll tell you what's coming.

Why do the finishes cost different amounts?

The bed, mattress and hardware are the same in every finish. Price follows the wood and the handwork: black walnut costs the most, carved mahogany comes next, then shaker-door mahogany, and acacia costs the least.

How heavy is it, and how much weight does the bed hold?

The cabinet weighs about 300 lb. The maker tested the bed at 600 lb.

Will it fit through my door and up my stairs?

Closed, it's 26" deep, so it goes through a standard 32" doorway. It's heavy, so tell us about stairs, tight turns or a long walk when you order and we'll plan the delivery around them.

Can I see one in person?

Call ahead at (503) 235-3454. Floor pieces change, so we'll tell you which finish you can open and close at our Portland showroom, 439 SE Grand Ave. Mon–Sat 10–6, Sun 11–5.

How soon can I get it?

Each bed comes from our supplier's local warehouse. After you order, we call to set your delivery date. Need it by a certain day? Ask before you buy and we'll check.

Delivery, pickup and White Glove

Every finish qualifies for free front-door delivery within 20 miles of Portland. Pickup at our Portland showroom is always free. Washington delivery is $149 plus mileage through our independent delivery partner.

White Glove ($279) brings it to the room you choose, sets it in place and takes the packaging. Add it on the product page or at checkout.

Returns and warranty

Returns depend on how a piece is sold. Boxed, unused pieces can come back to our Portland showroom within 7 days for store credit that doesn't expire; custom orders, consignment and floor models are final. This bed arrives assembled rather than boxed, so ask us which terms apply before you order.

Warranty comes from the manufacturer. If something arrives damaged or a defect shows up later, contact us and our claims team files with the manufacturer for you and sees it through.

What Is a Cabinet Bed?

A cabinet bed is a freestanding take on the classic Murphy bed. Instead of a frame anchored into the wall studs, the whole bed lives inside a 26"-deep cabinet that reads as a credenza or console. At night the front folds down and the tri-fold queen mattress unfolds onto the platform. One person can open it in under a minute, with no tools. By day the top holds a lamp, a TV or decor.

Installation: a wall Murphy bed is usually anchored into the studs and installed. This cabinet bed arrives assembled and stands against the wall on its own.
Renter-friendly: no holes in the wall, so it moves with you. Hidden casters let one person reposition it.
Footprint: closed, it takes about the floor space of a dresser, 64" wide and 26" deep. Open, it needs 83" from the wall.
Mattress: a 6" tri-fold gel memory foam queen mattress comes installed, so there is nothing else to buy.

Every finish is solid hardwood with no veneers and no MDF: black walnut, mahogany or acacia, depending on the finish. Price follows the wood and the handwork. Black walnut sits at the top, carved mahogany comes next, then shaker-door mahogany and acacia. Finishes range from unstained walnut grain to carved black or white mahogany and weathered gray acacia.
