Sizes, materials and care

A low, tufted headboard is the whole idea here. The Newhall keeps its upholstered panel close to the mattress rather than towering over it, set on a simple gunmetal iron base that all but disappears under the frame. It is a bed that reads as quiet, modern architecture rather than a statement piece competing with the rest of the room.

The tufting runs in a neat grid across the full width of the headboard, giving it texture without pattern, and the low profile keeps the bed from dominating a room with a lower ceiling. Two upholstery finishes let you set the tone: a neutral, chenille-like linen or a fashion-forward tobacco tone.

Styling Tips

Because the headboard sits low, the Newhall works well in a room where you want the bedding and wall above it to carry the visual weight; hang art or a pair of sconces above the frame rather than relying on the headboard for height. Round out the room from our nightstands collection in a metal finish that echoes the gunmetal base.

The neutral Plushtone Linen recedes into almost any palette, while Vintage Tobacco adds warmth to a room that is otherwise cool-toned. Either finish keeps the tufting as the main texture, so simple, unpatterned bedding tends to look best against it.

Care

Vacuum the upholstered headboard with a soft brush attachment and blot spills rather than rubbing. Wipe the iron base dry if it picks up moisture. Indoor use only. Free front-door delivery in the Portland area on orders $1,500+, or white-glove delivery available.
