Measure it open, not closed
Closed, the cabinet bed wins. Open, the gap shrinks: plan on about 83 inches out from the wall for our cabinet bed, and 84 to 96 inches (7 to 8 feet, our rule of thumb) for a queen sleeper.
Tape both open outlines on your floor and walk the path to the door. Check that nothing (a desk chair, a radiator, a rug edge) sits where either bed lands. For doorway sizes, see our Murphy bed guide.
What you sleep on
Our Murphy cabinet bed’s queen mattress has a gel memory foam layer over firmer support foam. It folds in three and stays inside the cabinet.
Luonto says its sleeper mattress “is thinner than a regular bed.” The Monika has a 5-inch cold-cured, high-density foam pad. Other sleepers vary, and we’ll tell you what’s inside each one.
Every new piece we sell comes with its maker’s warranty. Luonto, for example, covers its sleeper mattresses for 1 year and its sleeper mechanisms for 2. Ask us for the terms on any piece before you buy.

Open the bed, lie down for five minutes, then close it yourself. That tells you more than any spec sheet.
- Murphy cabinet bed: on the floor at our Portland showroom. Call first to ask which finish is on the floor.
- Sleeper sofas: as of October 18, 2026, a Stanton Haven in Lush Marine is on our Portland floor, so you can open both beds there. Floors change at both showrooms, and most other sleepers are ordered in or built for you.

Questions we hear
Is a Murphy cabinet bed the same as a wall bed?
No. A wall bed is usually anchored to the wall. Ours stands on its own on hidden casters, and the queen bed unfolds out of the front. Our Murphy bed guide compares the two.
What if someone will sleep there every night?
Then the room is a bedroom, and a regular bed is the better buy. We sell beds and mattresses too.
What does delivery cost?
White glove for the cabinet bed adds $279: we bring it to the room, set it up and take the packaging. For a sleeper, ask us the white-glove rate. Front-door rates depend on your address and order total; see our delivery rates.
