Consigned mid-century furniture in Portland

In the 12 months to October 18, 2026, we sold 151 consigned listings titled mid-century. They sell on our showroom floors and online, and new arrivals go up in Newest Consignments. Consigned pieces are final sale under our refund policy, so see one in person before you buy.

Selling a mid-century piece? Consign it with us

  1. Email photos of the front, side, back and any wear to consign@whatsnewfurniture.com, with the width, depth and height and the maker if you know it. A photo of any label helps.
  2. We reply within 1–2 business days. We decide from your photos and don't evaluate walk-ins.
  3. Once approved, drop it off at our Portland showroom any weekday before 5 pm, or book a pickup, from $195 for the first item within 20 miles.
  4. We price it, photograph it and list it. When it sells, you get 50% of the sale price, or 60% as store credit. The term is 90 days, with periodic markdowns.

Solid wood furniture and quality upholstered pieces are usually a yes. Particle board, flat-pack, stains, odors, pet hair and heavy damage are usually a pass. Full terms are on our consignment page.

How to check a vintage piece

  • Joinery. Pull a drawer all the way out and look at its front corners. Dovetails or dowels are a good sign. Staples, nails or glue alone usually mean a lighter build or a repair. Then push on the top: a case piece shouldn't sway, and legs shouldn't wobble.
  • Veneer. Doors, drawer fronts and tops on vintage case pieces are often veneered, a thin sheet of walnut or teak over a core. That isn't a flaw. Look for lifting edges, bubbles, water rings and chipped corners.
  • Maker marks. Look inside drawers, on the back and underneath for a stamp, label or tag. A label helps you check the age and the price. A missing label doesn't rule a piece out.
  • Upholstery. Press the seat and back. Foam that crunches or bottoms out usually needs replacing, and so does fabric that smells. On an older sofa or chair, budget for new foam or new upholstery.
  • Vintage or just the style? “Mid-century” in a listing title usually describes the look, ours included. Labels, construction and wear tell you the age. Ask us what we know about a piece.

Where can I buy mid-century modern furniture in Portland?

What's New Furniture has two showrooms, and both carry new, custom and consigned furniture. Our Portland showroom is at 439 SE Grand Ave, Portland, OR 97214, in the Central Eastside; call (503) 235-3454. Is there a mid-century furniture store in Cedar Mill or near Beaverton?

Yes. What's New Furniture's Cedar Mill showroom is a quick drive from Beaverton and Bethany, with free parking at the door. It carries Oregon-made custom sofas, modern favorites and one-of-a-kind consignment. The floor changes often, so call (503) 488-9525 if you're coming for a specific piece.

Does What's New Furniture deliver in the Portland area?

Yes. In Oregon, front-door delivery within 20 miles of Portland is $149, or free on orders of $1,500 or more, and most in-stock Portland-metro deliveries arrive in 2–4 days. Washington delivery is through our delivery partner, at $149 plus mileage. Full rates are on our delivery page.

Does What's New Furniture sell vintage mid-century furniture?

Yes, on consignment, alongside newer mid-century-style pieces. Makers named in our consigned mid-century titles include Broyhill, Drexel and Heywood-Wakefield. A title describes the style, not the age, so ask us what we know about a piece. New arrivals are in Newest Consignments.

Where can I sell my mid-century furniture in Portland?

Consign it with What's New Furniture, starting with the four steps above. You get 50% of the sale price, or 60% as store credit. We don't buy outright.
